Preview One Blue South Round SIX

Manning v Midland Morrison

Manning return home following a good win at Byford, strong performances from the Peter Bowden rink of Tony Hockey, Greg Strachan and Alan Neesam together with Bill Pengilly’s rink of Terry Finlayson, John Wray and Ron Ker ensured the visitors came home with the points, the quality of the Manning side is evident when its cornerstone Milan Jokic has had a quiet two weeks yet the Eagles continue to win.

Viv Andrews Manning (pictured) has been a great leader for the Manning Eagles over the years

Viv Andrews
Midland Morrison will travel to Manning following their first aggregate win of the season, the side will be buoyed by this win and they will be looking for a further good performance against the ladder leaders; John Snell’s rink continues its good form with a stand out performance from the first up skipper Alan Southern.
This game will be a training run for the Eagles, they are in top form and the visitors will be in early trouble, Manning has too many players in great form and will close out the game in the first half.

the result will be Manning 7 / 1.

Safety Bay v Rockingham

Safety Bay will host neighbour Rockingham for the first of the southern derby’s for some time in this division, the Bay didn’t enjoy the trip to the eastern suburbs with Michael St Jack only troubling the scorer on a lack lustre day for the visitors.
Rockingham on the other hand is enjoying a good start to the season they sit second on the ladder and were untroubled against a struggling Melville collecting all the points, they can afford to make small changes to the side with Alan Sullivan skippering for the first time which has provided improvement across the green.
This encounter will cement Rockingham in second spot, the Bay will not have the depth to counter the Rocky boys, they will enjoy the carpet

the result will be Rockingham 7 / 1.

Vic Park v Hilton Park

Vic Park returns home following a disappointing result at Osborne Park last outing, picking up one point will disappoint coach Nev Young, his enthusiasm ignites the side, that fuse will have to be lit for this encounter.

Hilton Park will also be disappointed with their last effort losing to Spearwood in a significant fashion; two rinks did not fire last Saturday which will trouble the selectors. This will be the game of the day, both sides boast strong skippers with very good front ends Vic Park at home will be a difficult prospect for the Hilton side, the visitors will need all the rinks firing to combat the home side.

for Vic Park Brenton Scott will be looking to return to the winners circle while for Hilton look for improvement from Norm Ball. This game will be close all day the Hilton side will rule supreme

the result Hilton Park 6 / 2

Melville v Spearwood

Melville host Spearwood following their disappointing performance against Rockingham coming away with no points, this result does not help their quest to remain in this division; while Spearwood returned to the winners circle following a very good win against Hilton Park.

Boris Yakas Spearwood (pictured) was in sensational form last week with a huge win for his side

Boris Yakas
Boris Yakas was in sensational form his rink of Ivor Dragicevich, Stan Gvozdin and Joe Salmeri didn’t let the Luke Garbutt rink into the game.
Ken Nadilo and his rink have settled well picking up an eight on their way to a strong performance against Norm Ball.
For this game the home side will need to work much harder to counter a Spearwood side finding some form, for the visitors minor team adjustments have brought results, Spearwood sit fourth on the table and will be looking to cement that position going into the Christmas break.

the result will be Spearwood 6 / 2.

Osborne Park v Byford

Osborne Park play for the second week at home, last weeks strong win against Vic Park saw the home side move into third position on the table, good performances across the green ensured the Ossy Park side picked up seven valuable points even contributions from the Doug Eaton, Cliff Guelfi and Rance Dewson rinks proved too much for the visiting Vic Park side.

Byford continue to struggle they hosted Manning last week and didn’t trouble the ladder leaders, their season could unravel further in this game; last week two rinks performed well in Dave Prescott and Brian Newell.
Byford will need significant improvement across the board to keep the home side from scoring maximum points in this encounter.

the result will be Osborne Park 7 / 1.
