Preview One Blue South Round FOUR
Melville v Midland Morison
Melville will host Midland Morison following their exiting draw at Byford; Midland will be looking for another strong performance similar to last Saturday where they almost toppled Hilton Park the margin a solitary shot in the Parks favour.
The Melville side had good contributions across the green at their last outing they will be working hard to ensure this weekend is much the same, Midland has made some changes to the side and it has provided some much needed stability, the result will be close however Melville at home will be hard to beat,
the result Melville 6 / 2.
Hilton Park v Rockingham
Hilton Park welcomed back David Opie from the UK last Saturday for a stirring one point result against Midland, this week they are home to Rockingham who last week stopped the ladder leaders Spearwood in a convincing display.
Rocky’s rinks led by skippers John Lethlean and Ron Mentiplay were in very good form but player of the day had to be Ron’s third Harry Thurlow, Harry put on a awesome display of how to play bowls in difficult conditions.
Luke Garbutt,Hilton Park (pictured) good skipper and away to a promising start to the season with 2 wins

This game will be a close tussle between two very good sides, Hilton at home are very hard to beat while Rockingham wont let Hilton have all their own way, they have some quality players returning for this tussle and will be full of confidence following last weeks result; Hilton will have the class to go the distance in this encounter, with David Opie back in the line up
the result Hilton Park 6 / 2.
Safety Bay v Byford
Byford travel to Safety Bay following their exiting draw against Melville, while Safety Bay returns home following their good win against Osborne Park.
The Bay at home on a windswept afternoon will take some beating, Byford will know they have arrived when they step of their bus to be greeted by a swirling Freo Doctor, the Bay know how to play their greens in the blustery conditions, this will challenge the Byford side still looking for its first aggregate win.
Safety Bay will be looking to get their season under way with a big win, this could be the day,
the result Safety Bay 7 / 1.
Manning v Osborne Park
The Manning Eagles return home full of confidence following the enormous win against Vic Park last Saturday, Peter Bowden had a quiet day, however Manning’s cornerstone in Milan Jokic stamped his authority together with Bill Pengilly they set up a commanding lead that was never challenged.
Osborne Park surprise loss to Safety Bay will be a wake up call for the Park; they will be looking to upset the home side to stay in top four.
This game will challenge the Park boys, they will want to stay close to the home side or it could get messy towards the end, Manning has made up for their player drain in spectacular fashion this season, they look the goods at this stage; however they did appear unbeatable at the similar point last season, they will need to stay focused or the Park will spoil their party,
the result Manning 7 / 1.
Vic Park v Spearwood
Spearwood travel to Vic Park on the back of a thrashing at Rockingham last weekend, the Rocky boys were in top form across the rinks, however were denied top points by two of Spearwood’s rinks ably led by Boris Yakas again having a top year and Italo D’Ascenzo, while Vic Park were roundly beaten by a rampart Manning.
Coach Nev Young wont be happy and I am sure he will be looking for a big improvement from his charges this week.
The Park had two rinks in the mix while the other two struggled, Spearwood suffered the same fate two rinks battled strongly while the other two couldn’t match the home side, this game should be a good contest, the Park are fourth on the table while Spearwood is second, the result could come down to the last few ends of the game,
the result Spearwood 6 / 2.
