ROUND TWELVE
There will not be a leadership challenge this week!
Well, not so sure about Canberra, but definitely not in One Blue North, with the top half pitted against the bottom half of the ladder.
However…
Wanneroo(2) v Bedford will be the game of the day one would surmise, considering it's first v fifth, and the Roostwos can be considered a legitimate challenger to the Bulls promotion hopes.
The clash will provide a guide as to the chances of the Wanneroo side, who have lost personnel to Premier League, but are travelling nicely. On the brink of playoff action, a win here would be a big boost, but it'll be a tough assignment.
Wanneroo also figure in another interesting matchup when the Roosones host Beaumaris.
New kids on the block, Beaumaris, have been quietly doing the job as an unheralded outfit, and find themselves in sixth spot with a real chance of avoiding the drop. Wanneroo(1) lie just one rung below them, and a win here would provide either club with some temporary breathing space from demotion territory. A loss on the other hand would make things awkward.
Innaloo(second), Osborne Park(third), and Swan (fourth) play Kalamunda(eighth), North Beach(tenth), and Midland-Morrison(ninth) respectively, and wins here to the former three clubs would effectively break the competition in two.
Innaloo travelled the hill to Kalamunda in round three for two drawn rinks and one win whilst Kalamunda won the aggregate courtesy of a fourteen shot victory by Mick Douthie's rink. The Tigers and Redbacks shared third place on the table after that round.
The Redbacks have fared much better since then and are final contenders, whilst Kalamunda are fighting demotion. There is no doubt also having a One White team currently on top is a great drain on the Tiger's resources who are generally competing against opponents top sixteen players.
Though Innaloo hold second spot on the ladder, their percentage is the fifth ranked, which indicates inconsistency, and in the run home they will need to consolidate their performances as an even team if they are to aspire for promotion to One White.
